Fuel is important

Date: 3/20/22
Training Day: 105
Miles: 3.2 (treadmill)
Time: 50 min
Shoes: Xero HFS
Activity: Strength

How It Felt: The run was easy and felt good. The strength workout kicked my ass because I was dumb.

Commentary: I got back from Utah in the early afternoon. And of course, in true Idaho fashion, it was snowing on the first day of spring. I hopped on the treadmill and plodded along at a super easy pace, keeping my heart rate nice and low.

After my ran I went straight into my strength workout. This is what I usually do on the weekend. Usually I also have some Accelerade after my run and during my strength workout. Calories are important when you’re working hard! But this time I only drank water.

Halfway through my strength workout I felt like I had zero energy. Each exercise felt like the hardest ever. I started to sweat, and not the sweating like I was working hard, sweating like something was wrong with body. It finally hit me that I neglected to fuel my body. I grabbed my Huel shake and pounded half of it. After about ten minutes I felt much better, but it wasn’t until after the workout that I felt normal again.

Lesson learned! I must properly fuel my body if I want it to perform well during demanding workouts.
