Catching up, part two

Dates: 8/3/21 – 8/9/21
Running Days: 4 (+ 1 hiking)
Miles: 2.8 + 4.2 + 5.3 (+ 6.4)
Other Activities: Hiking

How It Felt: The first two runs of this training week felt pretty good. But the long one felt horrible, partially because I was still super hungover from two nights before. I’m getting old.

Commentary: I was supposed to run four times this week, but I got waaaaay too snockered Thursday night. As in I couldn’t keep anything down, including water, so I ended up at Urgent Care to get a bag of fluids and anti-nausea medication. Yeah…

So, my run on Friday didn’t happen because I was literally struggling to survive. And my run on Saturday felt horrible. Even my Garmin called my run “unproductive.” A little judgy if you ask me, but probably accurate.

Not the greatest, but not the worst.

After the run I did one of those paint and drink things with a friend. And that evening I went to a friend’s birthday bash, which included a 27-foot tall water slide! The slide was such a blast!

Not gonna lie, I was scared to go down the first time!

Sunday I went on a short hike and cave exploration with coworkers. It was really nice to hike and chat with other folks instead of hiking by my lonesome. And the cave was amazing! We got to a point where you had to shimmy through a small “tunnel”. Since I wasn’t sure where it went, and I didn’t want anyone waiting on me, I decided against exploring further.

The entrance to the cave.

Next time I might go check out the cave by myself and see what kind of trouble I can get into!
