F**king sick, again

Date: 11/23/21
Training Day: 9 (but does it matter?!)

Commentary: On Friday, my husband started feeling a little under the weather. By Saturday he was full blown sick. I suspect he has the flu. My arrogant ass figured I’d be good since I got my flu vaccine. Joke’s on me!

I pushed off my Monday morning run to the evening because I got to bed late on Sunday night. By the time I got home last night I felt shit, so I figured it’d be best to rest and try again this morning. Ha! Joke’s on me again!

Look at that shitty sleep score. And no, I don’t need blackout curtains – I need to not be sick!

In the middle of the night I woke up multiple times because I was on fire. One of the times I got up to take my temperature, and it was a cool 97.6°F. Interesting… I tossed and turned for a nearly an hour before finally falling back asleep. This morning my Garmin told me I slept like shit. Master of the obvious.

The one thing I hate most in this world is taking PL to do nothing. But this morning I called in sick and sacrificed ten whole hours of PL to 1) save my coworkers from my plague and 2) not have to deal with people when I feel like ass. I also told my friend in St George that we were supposed to spend Thanksgiving with that we couldn’t make it. Being sick cost me time with my friends and my 10k on Thursday. I hate this game.

Broke my record-high stress score of 57 from August! Yay…

For the most part, I don’t feel much worse than I did when I was sick before my recent half marathon (why do I get sick before races?!). But my chest feels like someone stuffed a whole bag of cotton balls in lungs and said, “Good luck breathing, sucker!” And my skin hurts, if that makes sense.

As a consolation prize to myself, I made tomato basil soup for lunch. Roasted Roma tomatoes, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, and fresh basil from my windowsill. I also picked up some garlic bread to go with it. Oh man, that was a tasty lunch!

Looks can be deceiving. Despite looking like baby food, this soup is quite delicious.

Anyway, now that I have fuck all to do for the next five and a half days, I think I shall expand my website. Instead of just blogging as a training journal, I’ll attempt to come up with running- and training-related articles to write about. Like there isn’t enough of that shit all over the internet already. But, it will give me something to post on rest days!
