EARLY mornings

Time: 50 min
Shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21
Weather: N/A (indoors on a treadmill)

How It Felt: The surges didn’t feel as good today as they did last week. Maybe because I haven’t been sleeping as much?

Commentary: Last Tuesday I was feeling froggy, so I got up stupid early, like 4:15am. I went to the gym and knocked out both my run and strength training. After work I had time to make food, snuggle with the cat, and still get to bed at 8:30pm.

I enjoyed getting home early-ish so much I decided to knock out both workouts in the morning. Thus, I have been getting up around 4am. And a strange thing has happened.

Usually, I’d get home from the gym, catch up with the hubster, and then promptly get ready for bed. More often than no I’d be asleep right around 8:30pm. Tis not the case anymore.

Now I get home with a little extra time, and sit around either watching TV with the husband or fucking around on my phone. Then time escapes me. Next thing I know it’s past 8pm when I start my evening routine. And I’m heading to bed closer to 9pm.

This probably comes as no surprise to you, but I’m fucking tired. This could be why my run this morning didn’t feel as good as it could have. It didn’t feel bad, but it didn’t feel great.

My initial solution is to start drinking caffeinated coffee again. But that’s like a bandaid. What I need to do is sleep more. I just might have to go back to strength training after work. Sigh.

Are you a night owl or a morning lark? Do you prefer to workout first thing in the morning, at lunch, after work, or some other time? Would you die without coffee?
