Heel drop and questions
Date: 4/15/21
Training Day: 83
Miles: 3
Time: 35 min
Shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21
Weather: N/A (indoors on a treadmill)
Strength Training: Legs
How It Felt: The run felt quite nice. Although this is the same leg workout for the third week in a row, I enjoyed it and felt strong.
Commentary: When I first bought new road running shoes I got a pair of zero drops – Altras, and a pair of “traditional” heel drop ones (12 mm) – Brooks.
Before my knee issue, I primarily ran in my Brooks because my calves couldn’t handle the zero drop. Now I’d say I can run them more often than not for my shorter runs. Looks like this girl’s calves have gotten stronger!
Now my new trail runners are Hokas, and they have a mere 4 mm drop. Less calf work than zero drop but more calf work than my Brooks. On Saturday I plan to try them out on my long run and hope I don’t regret it.
Onto a completely different subject… I hear bloggers and social media weenies are supposed to ask questions to engage their audience. I haven’t done this because my posts are more a journal for myself. But I’m thinking it’s time to start learning more about other folks.
So, what type of heel drop do you prefer? What’s your favorite running shoe? Do you even run in shoes? Do you even run? Talk to me!
