Weird pain

Dates: 5/16/22 – 5/22/22
Training Week: 24
Miles: 24

Commentary: I can’t remember if I already shared this, but in case I didn’t – I got into grad school! This fall I will start working on my MS in GISci! Since I haven’t taken an GIS classes before, my first class is an introductory class that doesn’t even count towards my degree. But it’s a prerequisite for a bunch of other classes, so I have to take it.

My kitten helped me during my Hiring Our Heroes brief.

Although I am quite excited about getting my master’s so I can find a new job and change industries, this stuff can’t happen until I’m done with my master’s. I can’t say I’m fond of nuclear power. I never have been, really. And I’ve been fantasizing about a remote job so my husband and I don’t have to do as much driving in a weekend just to get me back for work. So, when an email popped up in my inbox saying that Hiring Our Heroes would pay for me to get a Grow With Google data analytics certificate through Coursera, I jumped on the opportunity.

Look my panther in our meadow!

On Saturday I went for a run with the intentions of doing some speed work outside since it was finally nice enough. During my second fartlek my lower outside shin area near my left ankle started hurting. I took it super easy on the way home to try to minimize whatever was going on. The rest of the day I stayed off my feet as much as possible.

I borrowed my husband’s waders, and yeah, they were quite big on me!

While taking it easy I sat in my backyard enjoying the sunshine and the buzzing of bees. My husband and I don’t mow the backyard, partly because we’re lazy and partly because we enjoy the mini meadow. Instead of having a manicured rectangle of green we have tons of flowers for the bees, and I’m sure our little meadow is a great habitat for other creatures. We have a small ecosystem in our backyard, and that makes me happy. It also makes me happy to see my panther prowling through the tall grass!

For the first time EVER I cleaned my own fishies!

On Sunday I went fishing with friends, and since I caught the biggest fish I got to keep them all. After fishing I attempted to get a run in on the treadmill, but I barely made it three miles before that shin/ankle spot started bothering me again. I hopped off the treadmill and sat my butt on the couch with an ice pack wrapped around my shin. Nothing like my body messing with me a week before the Bryce Canyon 30k!
