Running with humans
Date: 3/2/21
Training Day: 39
Miles: 4.5 (speed repeats)
Time: 51 min
Shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21
Weather: Mid-30s, mostly clear skies
Strength Training: Abs
How It Felt: Wasn’t the biggest fan of the ab workout this morning, but it happened. The speed repeats felt good! I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to run the goal pace, but I rocked socks off!
Commentary: Last week a guy in the local trail running group posted on Facebook about getting folks together for an interval run on Tuesday nights. I couldn’t last week, but I went this week. Three of us total went for a run this evening.
First of all, it is so much better to run outside! The night was beautiful, and we got to watch the sunset. Second of all, the time goes by way faster when running with humans. All of a sudden my 15-minute warmup was done, and it was time for my intervals. Having folks to talk to also makes running on roads through neighborhoods way more bearable.
Even though we ran different interval workouts, we managed to kind of stay together. All in all, a great run on a great night.
Tonight I also tried my Huel shake for the first time. I can’t say it was as mentally satisfying as a meal, but I felt full afterwards. And that’s what matters! Now we’ll see how my sleep goes. I feel like this is the real test of food vs exercise affecting my sleep.

Way to go! Occasionally running with others is all it takes to push you to the next level – or through the next workout!
