All day leg day

Date: 2/21/21
Training Day: 30
Miles: 2. 6 (+7.2 miles hiking)
Time: 30 min
Shoes: Altra Paradigm 5
Weather: N/A (indoors on a treadmill)
Strength Training: Legs

How It Felt: Run felt good. Leg workout was tough but felt pretty good. Hike was fantastic!

Commentary: I was at the gym by 5:45am. Knocked out my run, did my leg workout, stretched, and went home to get ready for the hike. By 8am I was on the road to meet my friend.

My friend and I attempted to get to one trailhead, but it didn’t pan out. The one we ended up at was supposed to go to a bridge. The description didn’t mention anything about a fork in the trail. Instead of taking the one that looked relatively flat and probably followed a creek, we chose the one that went uphill.

Normally, uphills ain’t no thang. But winter in snowshoes is a who different story. It felt like we went miles uphill, when in fact the ascent was a little under a mile. My calves burned all the way up, and I quietly thanked my personal trainer for focusing on my quads today.

The trail kept going up, but once we hit a good view, we turned around. Back at the fork, we took the flat-ish, easy trail to the bridge.

Needless to say (then why say it?), my legs are beat! Thank goodness tomorrow is a rest day because I need it. And I keep telling myself that I’m just making my legs more badass.
