Wobbles & shimmies

Weather: N/A (indoors on a treadmill)
Strength Training: Legs

How It Felt: The run felt good, nothing special. Same with the leg workout, but I could feel my quads working during the squats.

Commentary: In December I started going to the gym again. I knew I needed to start working on my strength and running to get ready for the Spartan. On leg day I put a ten-pound plate on each end of the bar and got ready for squats. On the way down my right knee wobbled all over the place. Huh.

In the past, my knee did not wobble when doing squats. Had I lost that much strength in my legs/quads. My personal trainer even noticed it during our initial evaluation. I am happy to report that my knee no longer wobbles as much as it once did. It’s more like a quick shimmy.

My personal trainer doesn’t assign me many single-leg workouts that focus on my quads, so I’ve started adding them in on my own. Even though I focus really hard on using both legs evenly, the only sure way to know my right leg is doing the work is for it to be the only one doing the work.
