Commentary: After a full day of rest and eating through some of my pack weight, the hike out was much more enjoyable than the hike in. The sun was shining, and after a few days of cloudy, snowy skies, the blue sky seemed even more vibrant. I carried both my backpack and daypack, a total of 40 pounds, with no problem. My legs felt great.
Originally, I planned to hit up the gym when I got home. Two nights of going to bed at midnight and waking up at 7am, coupled with a six-mile hike with a heavy pack, changed my mind. I got home and relaxed. And I ate two dinners. It’s about time I realize I don’t have to follow my training schedule to a T. I can be flexible.
